- How Does Playit Work?
All of our video series are split into 3 sections - gear rundown, playthrough & lesson/song story. The gear rundown gives you an insight into what equipment the artists use to get their signature sound. The playthroughs use 3 different camera angles to show you in context, exactly how the artist plays the songs. The lesson/song story videos dive into the songs, giving you a breakdown of each section and also a behind the scenes insight into the writing, recording and touring process of the individual track.

We encourage positive discussion and participation in our video comments section, we're always keen to help out on certain sections and we occasionally have the artists themselves get involved to answer some of your questions, lovely stuff!
- How many people work for Playit?
Playit started with the 3 S's, Sam, Sam and Stuart. Along the way we use a few of our good friends to help out with shoots, editing and marketing dark arts. Samuel James handles all the adminy stuff (he keeps the train moving!). Sam Nahirny is our wizard of video shooting and editing and Stuart Vallans oversees everything and get's the bands on board.
- Does the money I spend go to the artist?
It certainly does! We have great relationships with all the artists we work with, including their wider team of managers, labels and publishers. Our deals are worked out in a very transparent way and means that when you sign up for Playit, you can rest assured your are helping your favourite artists earn a living.
- Can I view the Playit content anywhere else?
Nope! All the content featured on Playit is exclusive to Playit, accept no imitations. Yes we know you can probably see some dude sat in his underpants in his parent's basement, teaching you how to play the song incorrectly, but why do that when for a small investment you can learn from the bands themselves!
- I'm an artist/in a band and want to be featured on Playit, is this doable?
The majority of the bands on Playit are through our contacts within the music industry that we hand-pick to be involved. Saying that, we're always on the lookout for new bands to feature. If you'd like to get involved then please email email@example.com and we'll get the conversation going.
- Why Videos?
Video is the number one method of learning an instrument nowadays. Our ethos was developed from the ever growing list of badly filmed videos of online "guitar teachers" showing you how to play songs incorrectly (often accompanied with terrible audio and video quality too!). Our videos allow you to see all the subtle nuances to your favourite musicians' playing and lets you dig in and see exactly how the songs are played, by the people who wrote them!
- How Do You Film Your Sessions?
We use a team of 2 videographers and 1 audio engineer to make sure all of our videos are presented in the best way possible. We accept nothing but the best in terms of audio and video quality when it comes to our sessions, meaning the Playit community gets the best product possible.
- Why No Tabs?
Our videos are filmed in such a way that there is no need for tabs as you can see exactly what the guitarists are playing via the fretboard camera angle. Couple this with the speed selector tool and you have everything you need to learn the songs 100% correctly. There are also other benefits to learning this way. With tabs you are affectively being spoon-fed the information, whilst with videos, you are actually engaging your ear and focusing more on the subtle playing techniques that no tab could ever describe; in turn making you a much more rounded musician.
- How Accurate Are Your Playthroughs?
100% accurate! All our playthroughs and lessons are taught by the bands themselves, that's right, the people who actually wrote, recorded and perform the songs. What you see is exactly how the songs are played, down to positioning, nuances, and technique, direct from the artist themselves.
- I Bought a Standalone Artist Bundle, Can I Still Access This?
You certainly can, all people who bought individual bundles on our old site can still access the videos they paid for with no recurring fees
